More eco-responsible
Our sector - the audiovisual sector - emits around 1.7 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent into the atmosphere each year (according to the Ecoprod study published in November 2020). CANAL+ is aware of the need to reduce the ecological footprint of its creations, which is why the Group has decided to join the ECOPROD collective.
What's ECOPROD ?
Founded in 2009, the ECOPROD collective is working for improved consideration of the environment in audiovisual productions. Between institutions, audiovisual actors and technical service providers, the collective is approaching the major content producers and proposing concrete actions.
CANAL+ has decided to join the collective to actively participate, not only in the identification and dissemination of good practices, but also in the implementation of specific tools to produce audiovisual or cinematographic content that is more environmentally friendly.
It groups together major players in the sector: the CNC, the CST, Film Paris Région, Film France, Audiens, TF1 and France Télévisions.

And at our place, concretely ?
L'Effondrement, Baron Noir – season 3, Neufs Meufs, Ovni(s), these are some examples of our eco-produced creations!
L'Effondrement
The Offbeat Creation l'Effondrement is one of the first ethical productions in the audiovisual sector. During filming, no meat was served at meals and no plastic cups were used. All travel was by minibus and all meetings were conducted by video-conference. Service sheets were printed on request only. The sets were all recycled. And these are just a few of many examples...

Baron Noir
Season 3 of Baron Noir was also shot with the highest standards of eco-responsibility applied to a production of this scale in France.
All of our film crews were involved, as were the costume designers, who preferred to rent textiles rather than buy them. Generators running on recycled cooking oil, flasks for water, bulk food, etc.
127 different initiatives taken on the set, leading to a good result: a reduction of 4 tonnes of CO2!
"The ecological question was at the centre of this season, and it made us realise that we could take a step towards eco-responsibility ourselves," explained producer Stéphanie Carrère.

Neufs Meufs
A Offbeat Creation directed and produced by a team of equal partners who are aware of the fight against harassment and ordinary sexism, but who are also committed to an eco-production approach that is more sustainable, more virtuous, and more committed.

OVNI(s)
Between carpooling, green transport (for the flying objects present in the series, it's not us...), water bottles, bulk and recycling, our team has taken the eco-responsible approach very seriously on this Original Creation.
As far as catering is concerned, bulk food was favoured, as well as organic and seasonal products, partly from the Cusine et Dépendance catering team's garden, with a vegetarian option for meals in the canteen.
"Our approach throughout the shooting was as responsible as possible" said Constance Monnet, Production Coordinator.
